Open letter to Goliath
Dear Goliath,
You look at me like that small boy. You have been a warrior since your youth, for many many years, but I’m just a young boy, a shepherd boy for that matter. However, one thing is for sure, lions and bears came for my father’s sheep. And as many as they come I killed them all. I don’t need garments of war as used by men. I only will carry a rod and a few stones. Why? Because all I need is the God who delivered me from the bears and lions and that experience. And so I come to you in that name and there you are into my hands you fall. To the glory and honour of He who is my defender and protector.
(1 Samuel 17:40 – 50)
Yours faithfully
Madam CEO
And now I want to encourage you to call out your Goliath’s. Those who have underestimated you. Those who feel that nothing good can come from you. Call into remembrance of the many times you almost gave up but God came through for you. It is not about how powerful your enemy is; It is not about how manly that man is; It’s not about how moneyed they are and so on. And yet those facts are real. But it is about the God who delivered you yesterday, who will deliver you yet again.
As we come to the end of the year, just remember that one day, the day you didn’t know where your next meal was going to come from, but you ate. The day your health had failed but you pulled through . The day bills were looking at you, but they got cleared somehow. Take stock of those positives in the midst of hardships. And let’s tell and remind our Goliaths that God will deliver them into our hands. Victory is a guarantee with God on your side. Even when it seems like you are losing yet you are a winner! Have a blessed Sunday and let’s meet in the victory ground. Up the mountain we go.
