Forget the shame
I have kept on thinking about this woman whose husband passed on and left so much debt on her. So much that the creditors were now coming for her sons to sell them off. Having had enough of the shame, she decided to wake up and get out to look for solutions.
And she went to Elisha, the prophet and with whom she had a conversation. At the end of the day she was asked by Elisha “What do you have in your house”. Her immediate answer was she had nothing. Then she remembered she had a little oil! She then was asked to borrow jags from neighbours.
Goodness! She was already a blacklisted creditor. Am sure if it were today she could be in listed in the credit reference bureau! But she needed to do what she needed to do to get out of her debts. Her sons were too dear to her. Eventually she got jags which when she filled with oil, (miraculously) she went back to report to the prophet who told her ” Go sell and use the money to pay off the debts and live on the balance.”
The lessons
1)Don’t give up just because you have been pushed to a corner by a situation
2)Identify what you have, no matter how small and use it to help you get out of a difficult situation.
3)Don’t keep silent with your issues. Seek help from a friend, a parent, your employer and so on . You may not be seeing a solution yourself but someone else may.
4)When you get a solution solve your real problem first. Pay your debts don’t drink it out for example.
5) Believe you can do anything. This woman who I believe was a housewife when the husband was alive became a wholesaler of oil!
We can all turn round our situations whether in business or our personal lives.
Look out for your mountain and go for it.
Give me my mountain is the way to go.
Have an amazing day and get out to do real work.
